Unfortunately, Pacific Poker has developed a reputation for attracting pretty bad low-limit players. Depending on your vantage point and the type of game you play, this could be seen as an advantage or disadvantage for you! In general, when the stakes are low at Pacific, the players are clueless.
Furthermore, the software isn’t the best when compared to other rooms high in our rankings. Nonetheless, we still feel this is a great site and for more some pretty big reasons. If you’re a beginner and want to take your time in a non-intimidating setting that doesn’t overwhelm, Pacific Poker is as good a site as any site – if not the best one – to start your poker experience.
However, if you’re a more advanced player or if you’re planning to play on higher-limit tables than $0.25-0.50, you may want to check out other destinations more suited to your needs. Make no mistake though – Pacific Poker does have high-limit tables and they’re pretty good; some even of the $30-60 variety.
Overall though, players at Pacific normally prefer smaller bets and the traffic the site attracts broadly reflects this concept. Nevertheless, Pacific could be an easy (“soft”) room for the right type of visitor. Certainly worth checking out!
